The Rocky Mountain Fastpitch League (RMFL) is excited to spotlight Angel “Bella” Saiz as the May player of the month. Saiz is a pitcher and shortstop on Wicked NM 2627.
In the circle, Saiz went 4-0 in May. She posted a 1.58 ERA and struckout 22 batters. She only issued three walks. At the plate, she recorded a .483 average and a 1.102 OPS. Saiz also scored 11 runs.
Wicked NW 2627 earned a Tier I Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series bid and will represent the RMFL in Chico Hills, California in July.
“Bella has all the tools most great softball athletes have who play both shortstop and pitch,” Wicked coach Anthony Valentin said. “More importantly, she is always happy to be on the field. She radiates joy in the dugout and on the field and it is infectious.”
Saiz started playing softball when she was seven years old. She hopes to play NCAA Division I softball one day.
“My favorite softball memory would be when I got hit in the hand on a very hard comebacker while I was pitching,” Saiz said. “Not only did I finish the play and get the out at first, but I finished out the game. That moment made me really proud of myself and what I am able to do in this sport.”
From all of us at the Alliance and the RMFL, congratulations to Angel “Bella” Saiz for her achievements.
What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.
Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month.
To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
