The Pacific Coast Fastpitch League (PCFL) is excited to spotlight Julia Horton as the June Co-Junior Player of the Month. Horton is a pitcher and utility player for Batbusters ET.

Horton had an excellent performance in the circle and at the plate this June. The 2029 racked up a .692 batting average and .714 OBP with six RBIs, a home run, and three stolen bases. In just 6 innings pitched, Horton blanked 13 batters.

Softball Story (How did you get started?) Tell us about you-
I started playing softball at the age of five. I immediately fell in love with the game. I played Rec ball for Simi Valley Girls softball and helped win a district championship in 8U. I moved to 10u travel ball in 2020. I found my home with the Batbusters organization in 2022 when Coach Jarrod Taylor allowed me to join his Batbusters ET team. The team shared some amazing experiences together, including winning the 2022 Alliance Championship in the 10u division and touring the Oklahoma Sooners softball complex during our stay in Oklahoma City. I am humbled by being named June Player of the Month. This recognition is a reflection of the efforts of my coaches and teammates. I would like to thank Kathy Slaten-Ayala, Doug Humphreys, and Taylor Neumann. Last, but not least, thank you to my parents for supporting me, pushing me to work hard and allowing me the opportunity to play the sport I love.

Favorite Softball memory-
My favorite softball memories always involve time spent hanging out with my amazing teammates! My most recent favorite softball memory is competing in the 2022 Alliance Championship in Oklahoma City. I got to play in the Hall of Fame Stadium, and hear my name announced over the loudspeaker during our games. We battled against some amazing teams, endured some crazy weather delays, and pulled together to win the 10u division. My team went 7-0 for the week!

Coaches Feedback-
Jules is one arm of a trio of dominant pitchers on Batbusters ET.  Jules compliments this trio with the ability to change speeds on any pitch, in any count, and keep her best pitches out of the hitting zone.

When not pitching, Jules plays lock-down defense using her range and speed to get the toughest outs.  Her athleticism is on display anytime she takes the field.

As a hitter, Jules has deep ball power that drives hits deep into defensive gaps.  Her complimenting speed makes her a threat for multiple base hits, steals, and aggressive base-running keeping the defense on edge.

What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.

Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month.

To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
