The Pacific Coast Fastpitch League (PCFL) is excited to spotlight Cienna Wilson as the December Junior Player of the Month. Wilson is a 2029 third baseman and utility player for Batbusters ET.

The 2029 posted an impressive .669 batting average with a .708 OBP. She racked up 7 RBIs with 8 singles, 2 doubles and 4 triples. The speedy Wilson also swiped 5 bases.

Softball Story –

I was a bit shy when I was younger so at 8 years old my parents signed me up for softball in attempt to make me more out going. After 10-12 games of Rec ball the Covid era began. Being forced to take a break from Softball made me realize how much love I have for the sport. Since the only teams playing at that time were travel teams I asked my parents to sign me up for travel ball. I have made numerous amount of friends and met some great coaches that have inspired me.

Favorite Softball memory-

My favorite softball memory is when I finally had more home runs than my brother had when he was playing baseball. He only had 3 so it didn’t take me long. However, each time I play, new memories are being made. One of the most recent ones I have is playing in a game that lasted 12 innings and 3 hours.

Who is your favorite softball player?

My favorite softball player is my cousin, Kelsea Sweeney, who pitched for Idaho state and Concordia University. Not only was Kelsea a great athlete she was a great student and set a good example for me by making the Dean’s List and receiving her Masters. She is the definition of a student athlete in my eyes.

What do you like to do outside of softball?

Aside from softball I’m involved with my schools student leadership program. I also like to bake, paint, roller skate, and spend time with my 2 dogs Opal and Luna.

What are some of your current goals – both on and off the field?

Right now my goal is hit a ball over the fence and keep working hard so that I’m able to give 100% of myself to my team. I am also working hard in school so I can take honors classes in Junior High and start prepping myself for high school and college

Coaches Feedback-

Tell us a bit about your athlete? As a player, person, etc.

CJ is the definition of a 5 tool player. CJ possesses speed, hits for power, consistently maintains a high batting avg, is a lock- down fielder and has notable arm strength. Amongst her Batbusters ET team, she lead a collection of strong hitters with a BAVG of .696, an OPS of 1.797, and a SLG of 1.130 in the month of December. Her prowess at the plate, and her skills behind the glove make her a standout player in the 12U division.

Do you have a favorite memory or moment of this athlete?

CJ is fast! In a recent game, CJ hit a laser in the OF gap for a HR. After being celebrated at home plate by her teammates, CJ veered off course from the group to return to 2B to retrieve the cleat that no one seemed to notice had fallen-off as she rounded the bases. The girl moves so fast, not even her own shoes can keep up.

Is there anything else you’d like to share, include, or that we should know?

As good as she is, CJ has only scratched the surface of her full potential. She is a great teammate, and is growing everyday as a budding leader on her team and in the 12U division. As a coach, it is a privilege to watch her develop into one of the top players in the sport.

What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?

The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.

Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month. To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
