As part of the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program, we are excited to honor Pacific Coast Fastpitch League (PCFL) 3rd Baseman, Abby Luis of USA Athletics (Phillips) as the Senior Player of the Month for her admirable performance in January.

Luis had a great month at the plate with a .714 batting average. The 2026 closed the month with an impressive 2.064 OPS, 3 RBIS, 3 singles, 1 double, and 1 homerun.

Tell us a bit about your softball story! How’d you get started in the sport?

I started playing softball when I was in 1st Grade. My parents put me in 6U at Redondo Sunset softball and I have never stopped loving it since

What has been your favorite softball memory?

I have so many memories I could share, but my all-time favorite is when I hit a game winning Homerun in an Arizona qualifying tournament last year

Who is your favorite softball player?

Jocelyn Alo

What do you like to do outside of softball?

When I’m not playing softball, I like to hang out with friends and go to the beach. My absolute favorite thing to do is serve at my church, Journey of Faith. I like going to church on Sunday morning and then to youth group on Sunday nights.

What are some of your current goals – both on and off the field? (Softball, school, other athletics, related, etc. all welcomed!)

Playing competitive softball in college at a D1 college and get good grades all throughout high school.

Tell us a bit about your athlete? As a player, person, etc.

Abby has high level D1 athletic ability along with great size, strength, and agility. Her overall athletic index number was over 92. In addition to being a great athlete, she is as good of a competitor as I have seen. When our team needs a big play on either side of the ball, we look to her. Off the field she is a fun loving, easy going kid but when it’s game time there is a fierce competitor showing up. She is currently ranked 3rd in batting average (.634) in the recently released Alliance player statistics as a 2026 and could still be playing in 14’s.

Do you have a favorite memory or moment of this athlete?

I have a lot of favorite memories of Abby in softball since she has been a huge part of our team’s success over the last 3 years. One great memory that comes to mind is in a national qualifier even last summer. The game was a pitcher’s duel and tied 0-0 into the bottom of the 6th inning. With the wind blowing in from center field 15-20 miles an hour, Abby steps up and launches a majestic line drive home run to dead center. That gave us a 1-0 lead heading into the 7th that we held on to for the win.

Is there anything else you’d like to share, include, or that we should know?

Abby is fun to watch play the game and I look forward to seeing all her upcoming success both on the field and off.

What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?

The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.

Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month. To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
