The Alliance Fastpitch and the Pacific Coast Fastpitch League (PCFL) are pleased to announce Lily Owens PCFL January Spotlight Athlete. The 2022 graduate hails from Chino Hills, CA., competes for OC Batbusters Maroon – Stith, and will be heading to Lehigh University next fall.

Softball Story (How did you get started?) – Tell us about you:
I started my softball career pretty late, starting my first travel team in eighth grade. My freshman year I played for Batbusters Flores and there I realized my true love for the game and met my lifetime best friend. January of my junior year I tore my labrum muscle in my left shoulder and had surgery in April. Being out for nine months during summer softball was devastating, but having my family, friends, and coaches by my side pushed me to come back stronger and more determined in October of my senior year.

Favorite Softball memory:
My favorite softball memory is playing in Utah my sophomore year during the Covid season. Having everyday life changed so abruptly was scary. Being able to play with my best friends as well as go tubing and hiking was the best way to close out a crazy year of softball and it will always have a place in my heart.

Coaches Feedback:
Lily is a very determined athlete and works hard. She has a strong competitive spirit and arrives at the field prepared and ready to go. She has God given physical abilities and I think we are just seeing her begin to scratch the surface of what she’s truly capable of. Lily is a good teammate and has taken on a leadership role this year. She is an offensive weapon and a long ball threat. I’m very proud of her in the way that she has worked her way back after having been out with an injury for nine months. I can see that she really appreciates being healthy and she’s making the most of her opportunities out on the dirt and in the classroom. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing her finish strong this Summer and move on to her collegiate career.

What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?

The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.

Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month.

To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
