The Pacific Coast Fastpitch League (PCFL) is excited to spotlight Sarai White as the November Co-Junior Player of the Month. White is a pitcher/1st basemen/3rd basemen for Corona Angels Griffin.

The 2030 had an impressive showing on the mound with a 3-1 record and only walking 1 batter. White struck out 12 and posted a 1.5 ERA.

Tell us a bit about your softball story! How’d you get started in the sport?

I started playing softball when I was 5 years old. My mom wanted to find a way for me to burn off my extra energy so she signed me up to play with Ontario Rec. I loved softball ever since my very first practice! I loved being part of a team, wearing matching uniforms and bows and always having a snack together after the games. I started playing 8u when I was 6 years old and I started to be more serious about the game. Seeing the older girls pitching made me want to become a pitcher so my dad started taking me to lessons. I moved to Chino Rec and got my chance to pitch. When our season got shut down due to Covid it was really hard. I was sad that I couldn’t play with my team but I still got to work on my pitching and hitting with my dad. I joined my first travel ball team, Cucamonga Crush, when I was 8. I learned so much and made softball sisters/friends that I’m sure I will have forever. I’m now playing for Corona Angels, just like two of my favorite players Megan Faraimo and Rachel Garcia. I am grateful to be on a team with such dedicated and hardworking teammates and with coaches who really believe in me and push me to be my best. I love softball and I can’t imagine my life without it.

What has been your favorite softball memory?

My favorite memory was when my coaches gave me the “Heart, Hustle, & Hard Work” award. This means so much to me because it is the thing that Coach Matt always stresses to us. He tells us that it doesn’t matter if we win or lose, what matters is that we work our hardest and always give full out effort. We don’t work hard just for ourselves, we do it for our team. Of all the rings I have ever earned, this one means the most to me.

Who is your favorite softball player?

Megan Faraimo, Rachel Garcia, Odicci Alexander and Aleshia Ocasio

What do you like to do outside of softball?

I love softball the most, but outside of softball I like to swim, make different crafts and decorate my room. Coach Matt recently taught me how to play basketball, so now I enjoy that too.

What are some of your current goals – both on and off the field? (Softball, school, other athletics, related, etc. all welcomed!)

One of my current goals that I am working on is getting a perfect report card and placing in the science fair. My long term goals are to play for Marty Tyson’s 18U team, to pitch for UCLA and to play in the Olympics. I also want to become a fashion designer and a softball coach.

Coach Feedback

Tell us a bit about your athlete? As a player, person, etc.

Warrior! She is one of the toughest girls I have ever had the chance of coaching. She shows her heart when she pitches.

Do you have a favorite memory or moment of this athlete?

After throwing the final strike to win championship game, full of emotion she raced to her catcher Hannah Griffin grabbing her, lifting her up in joy showing her team first character! Another time while in her beast mode getting drill with a line drive still making the play and also finishing the game strong.

Is there anything else you’d like to share, include, or that we should know?

She is a ride or die type of player with an endless amount of potential. I’ve been blessed to be a part of her journey!

What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?

The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.

Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month.

To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
