August 2021 – Following an exciting first season capped off by the Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series (AFCS) in five age divisions, the Alliance Fastpitch is excited to announce new league expansion starting with the Northwest Fastpitch League (NWFL) which will begin operations for the 2022 Season.

The NWFL becomes the seventh member league of the Alliance and will include the states of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska and will expand internationally into parts of British Columbia, Canada. Both the Pacific Coast Fastpitch League (PCFL) and the Rocky Mountain Fastpitch League (RMFL) voted unanimously to add the NWFL and break off certain states from their region to create the NWFL, increasing the opportunity for more regional play in the Northwest.

The NWFL will be led by Commissioner Joe Breer from the ai Bandits Organization.

“We are excited for the NWFL to provide additional opportunities to athletes, teams and organizations considering the challenges that come along with the northwest climate, travel demands and a blurred vision. Our goal as the NWFL is to work collaboratively with the entire softball community inside and outside of the NWFL region to ensure we provide the best experience and necessary resources so our young athletes are positioned to better compete at life and in sport,” Breer explained.

The Northwest Fastpitch League Leadership consists of the following members:

  • Commissioner: Joe Breer, 16U ai Bandits Breer, Operations Manager City of Tacoma, over 20 years coaching baseball/softball
  • League Financial Director: Henderson Orchard, Founder ai Sports/Hence Cellars/Divots Golf, Entrepreneur/Real Estate Developer
  • League Administrator: Jordan Schilling, General Manager ai Sports/Divots Golf, Ohio University Graduate/Catcher OU Bobcats Softball
  • Director of Marketing & Communications: Paris Orchard
  • Player Experience/Development Coordinator: Chris Breer, Director of Operations Southern Glazer’s, over 12 years of coaching youth programs

Individual athletes and coaches will register for the year with the Alliance Fastpitch and teams will register with the NWFL for League Play. A full League Schedule including points events and qualifiers will be announced at a later date.

“We feel privileged to partner with an Alliance team that includes many of the most established and highly regarded individuals and organizations among the softball community,” said Breer. “The unified and selfless vision the Alliance has demonstrated is energizing and brings a feeling of hope to all teams and athletes aspiring to compete and earn their way against the very best.   Innovation and inclusion are at the forefront of the Alliance platform and the NWFL is honored to be a new member.”

About the Alliance Fastpitch:

The Alliance Fastpitch is a cohesive network of regional softball leagues, teams, coaches, athletes and parents. Founded in the Summer of 2020, the Alliance Fastpitch had over 1000 teams in its first season and over 12,000 individual members including coaches and athletes.

The Alliance’s regional Member Leagues include the Pacific Coast Fastpitch League, Heart of America Fastpitch League, Northeast Fastpitch League, Rocky Mountain Fastpitch League, Southeastern Fastpitch League, Texas Fastpitch League and Northwest Fastpitch League. These regional Member Leagues provide a purpose of play to existing events with a structured point and ranking system, regional League championships, and a true national championship series, the Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series (AFCS).  Berths in championship events must be earned, with every team starting at the same level each season. The Alliance has partnered with the top event providers (USA Softball, USSSA, Triple Crown Sports) to host these events throughout the country.
